My Story

The Brain & Spine Foundation is a family affair for me.  The charity was set up over 30 years ago by two emninent neurosurgeons - my late father, Prof Sid Watkins, and Peter Hamlyn.  My father passed away in 2012 and shortly after Peter asked me to join the Brain & Spine Foundation as a Trustee.  I did two terms of 3 years and then became Vice President supporting Peter who is now the President.

Sadly, the state of neuro care in the UK is not what it should be - by some way as a result of years of under funding - which makes the role of the charity even more vital through providing expertise and advice to those suffering a multitude of neurological issues.

I'm honoured to be part of the Brain & Spine Foundation's 2024 London Marathon Team and together we will endeavour to raise as much money as possible.

I ran my first Marathon in London in 1994 so I'll be looking to beat my time thiry years later!!
