My Story

I'm raising money for the Duchenne Family Support Group so that they can continue to provide the essential emotional and practical support that families need.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a rare condition that affects mainly boys, and as well as coming to terms with the difficult diagnosis, families then need to navigate their way through the services, support and advice, which can be really difficult and emotionally exhausting.

DFSG helped Christopher's family at different stages of the progression of this condition, putting them in touch with other families who could help with information. DFSG was described to me as a really helpful organisation who are trusted to provide help and support when  needed. When you think you're on your own, or don't know where to turn, they're there for you.

I haven't run in about 20 years, and I reach the fabulous age of 6x10 in February '24, so competing in the iconic London marathon on April 21st is going to be a challenge and a half!

Please help me to help DFSG by sponsoring me.

This huge effort is in fond memory of Christopher, who you can see in the picture above in front of his degree exhibition. He was an amazing young man, he managed to achieve a BA degree in Illustration, and as you can see from the photo, he was a really talented artist. He had a wonderful sense of humour even with all the challenges he faced. Christopher passed away just after his 27th birthday in March 2023.

Please donate - if you were thinking of sending me a Birthday card (you might have ;-) ) - donate what you'd've paid. Forgo a cuppa at your favourite coffee shop, and if dry January is your thing, what you'll have saved on a bottle of wine or a pint, you might like to donate.

Let's together contribute to DFSG, in support of all the other Christophers and their families who need the support, information and friendships that the DFSG provides.

THANK YOU xx
