My Story

Although running the London Marathon is something that has been on my bucket list, my main reason for making sure I do the best I possibly can during this Marathon is because...

In 2022 my partner Harry, his sister, dad and stepmum lost their younger sister/ daughter to suicide. Family, friends have been affected by this and still are finding ways of adjusting and coming to terms with what has happened myself included.

During lockdown like many of us Tilly was struggling and slowly started to change. She wanted to go by Ty and wanted everyone to refer to Ty as they/ them. All of us were by their side and wanted to learn and understand more  of this change.

In the February of 2022 i received a call from my partner, Harry to say that Tilly/ Ty had gone, they had died by suicide. The feeling I felt was unimaginable, the pain i felt from Harry, his sister and parents it’s something I wouldn’t ever wish upon anyone.

No matter how much we tried to make sure we were there for Tilly/ Ty, you never fully understand someone’s pain and thoughts. Mental health is something that is extremely serious and can be sensitive but needs to be spoken about more. Since Tilly’s/ Tys passing I personally have been more open when I have been feeling low. Feeling like your problems and worries aren’t worth listening to, you’re wrong, that is when you need to open up and speak the most. However, if the resources are there for anyone who is struggling and doesn’t know what to do, I would like to contribute in at least making one persons day slightly better and easier knowing they have someone/ a help line they can trust and open up to. If I can help one person in opening up and sharing how they feel and knowing they aren’t alone so that it’s one less family to experience this unexplainable pain I would in a heart beat because most of us don’t get the help we need.

This has to change!

Please help in any way you can to raise money for MIND, no matter how big or small of a contribution, everything matters!
