My Story

My passion for the environment and sustainability started at a very young age. I was always drawn to the beauty of the world and how we can continue to protect the climate, communities, and all species. Having visited the Amazon Rainforest myself in 2012, I believe in supporting the protection of our rainforests around the world.

I will be running the London Marathon 2024 for the Rainforest Foundation UK.  This is a fantastic charity to raise awareness and funds for environmental conservation. Rainforests play a crucial role in maintaining the planet's biodiversity, regulating the climate, and providing essential resources.

By participating in the marathon, for the Rainforest Foundation UK, I hope to showcase my commitment to environmental conservation and contribute directly to the protection of rainforests. These ecosystems are under constant threat from deforestation, illegal logging, and other human activities, and supporting organisations like the Rainforest Foundation UK can make a significant difference.

Your efforts can help fund projects that aim to preserve and restore rainforests, support indigenous communities living in these areas, and promote sustainable practices that ensure the long-term health of these vital ecosystems.

As an environmentalist, my dedication to running for a cause aligns with my broader goal of fostering environmental awareness and inspiring positive change. Thank you for your support on my journey commitment to protecting our planet's precious Rainforests!

The Rainforest Foundation UK

The Rainforest Foundation UK is committed to both human rights and environmental protection when it comes to tackling deforestation. Locally, we support forest communities to gain land rights, challenge destructive industries, manage their forests and protect their environment. Globally, the Rainforest Foundation UK campaigns to influence national and international laws and policies that protect rainforests and their inhabitants.

Instead of conserving forests purely for their biodiversity or carbon values, RFUK promotes the establishment of community rights over rainforest lands, tackling the root causes of deforestation and paving the way for local people to benefit fairly from the use and protection of forest resources. Delivering work through long-term partnerships with local and indigenous peoples’ organisations so that capacity is sustained in rainforest countries.

Since our founding in 1989, the Rainforest Foundations of the UK, US and Norway have supported communities to secure and protect more than 84 million hectares of tropical rainforest — an area roughly the size of Scandinavia.

The London Marathon 2024

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
