My Story

Hello, my name is Cai, and I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read my story. With a target of £1,500, the charity I'm raising money for is MACS, and I'm doing this by attempting to run the 26.2 mile London Marathon in April 2024.

MACS is the UK's only charity specifically supporting children and adults born with Microphthalmia (small underdeveloped eyes), Anophthalmia (no eyes) or Coloboma (cleft of the eye). MACS enables people affected by these rare conditions to connect with each other and provides access to emotional and practical support, grants, and regional activities. Around 114 children are born with a MACS condition in the UK every year.

In April 2021, my son, Hari, was born with left Microphthalmia. This was a very challenging time for my family. The rare condition made us feel lost and we had so many unanswered questions. When I discovered MACS, they were fantastic support to me and I want to raise money to help them continue with the work that they do to help families like mine. I'm also hopeful that the whole process will help raise significant awareness for the amazing charity.

Any amount you're willing to contribute is so greatly appreciated, and if you aren't able to contribute money at this time, a share with your friends and family would mean the world to me as well.

Thank you very much.
