My Story

I am running the London Marathon in April 2024 to fundraise for the National Autistic Society.

In April 2022 my brother Luke was diagnosed with Autism at aged 18. After going through multiple lockdowns, confined to our house with myself, Luke, our mum and dad his behaviour took a turn for the worse. At this stage we were unaware of Luke having autism, although we knew he had a lot of the common signs, no diagnosis was made.

We all struggled trying to understand him while his behaviour just deteriorated. In April 2022, after years of waiting, getting incorrect diagnosis and struggling to manage his behaviour he was diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD)!

We now have a better understanding and more avenues available for him to receive assistance financially and mentally. However, I continue to believe that there is insufficient help for individuals like my brother who are on the spectrum but are highly functional, as well as family members who require assistance in managing their behaviours.

This is a huge physical challenge for me as I am not a runner at all (when signing up I couldn’t even run around the block without ‘half dying’), I am very determined to put in the effort to train and prepare for the big day!

All donations will help to raise money for Autism and encourage more support for people like my brother and their families.
