My Story

So 5 years on from the year my Dad (John Lord) passed away, I thought it was time I revisit my decision to run the London marathon. I was offered a place for 2019 but couldn't accept as I had just found out I was pregnant with Theo (I'll be honest, I was quite relieved!) but now I have run out of excuses and it's time for me to take on this challenge and raise some much needed funds - I will be running the London Marathon in 2024 for Pancreatic Cancer in memory of my wonderful dad.

Although my time with Dad was cut way way too short I feel so lucky to have had such a brilliant man in my life for 26 years and am eternally grateful that I get to be his daughter. Dad was super funny, generous, ambitious and gave the biggest and best cuddles. He inspired my love of Coldplay, motor racing and a nice cold Stella (or 10!). He would have absolutely adored his 4 grandchildren who he sadly never got the chance to meet. Running this marathon in his memory is a brilliant way to show my 2 boys just how special their Gramps is to me and everyone who knew him.

Pancreatic cancer is difficult to diagnose and survival rates are critically low. Since Dad died, I have also seen close friends lose loved ones to this cancer and it is heartbreaking. This amazing charity are working to change this and any amount you can donate will be hugely appreciated by me, my family and anyone connected with this horrible disease.
