My Story

This April, I will be participating in my first marathon in support of Vasculitis UK. When my niece, Ashbee, was 11 years old she was seriously ill and was admitted to Nottingham Hospital. We found out that she had a rare conditio called Vasculitis, which causes inflammation in the blood vessels, in her case it had caused severe damage to her Kidneys.

After a long journey, now 14, Ashbee is patiently waiting for a kidney transplant. She currently undergoes hemodialysis three times a week whilst balancing school work and everyday teenage life. Despite all the challenges and the toll it takes on her, she remains an absolute inspiration to everyone she meets. The transplant will improve Ashbee’s kidney disease, her Vasculitis will still need to be monitored for life.

Despite the challenges, Ashbee manages to stay positive and continues to show extraordinary strengths and courage.

Motivated by Ashbee’s continued resilience, I am seizing this marathon as an opportunity to both raise funds and awareness for Vasculitis UK. This charity is dedicated to supporting those affected by this condition. Her journey has inspired me to want to be a positive change and spread awareness.

Your support is crucial!

Donations, big or small, will contribute to medical advancements and support that can make a significant difference in the lives of those battling vasculitis.
