Chris Scott's Marathon Run for a World Without Alzheimer's
Chris Scott
My Story
Hi there, I'm Chris Scott, and I'm gearing up for something pretty massive – my first marathon, and it's all for a cause that means the world to me. I'm taking on the 2024 London Marathon to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK. This is more than just a run for me; it's deeply personal. My Grandma suffered from Alzheimer’s and seeing her lose her memories and not recognise her family was incredibly tough.
Alzheimer's is a cruel disease. It doesn’t just erase memories; it takes away the person you've always known. Experiencing this with my Grandma was a real eye-opener to the devastation Alzheimer's causes. That's why I'm fully behind Alzheimer’s Research UK. These guys are at the forefront, working tirelessly to understand this disease and find life-changing treatments.
So, about the marathon... Running 26.2 miles is a daunting thought, especially as it's my first time. But when I think about the daily struggles faced by those living with Alzheimer's and their families, I feel inspired. This run is my way of standing with everyone touched by this disease.
My aim is to raise £2,500. Every penny goes straight to Alzheimer’s Research UK to support their brilliant work – from research to finding a cure and developing new treatments.
I’m running for my Grandma, for everyone battling Alzheimer's right now, and for a future where Alzheimer's doesn't win. Every training session, every mile, and every donation helps us move closer to that future.
A massive thank you to everyone who's supporting this cause – whether you're donating, cheering, or simply sharing this story. Your support is making a real difference. Let's come together to show Alzheimer's what we're made of. We're all in this together.
Thanks for being part of this journey with me.
