My Story
I have wanted to be part of London Marathon for so many years, I 1st applied 20 years ago and think I have entered the ballot for 15 of those years since without success. Up until 2 years ago I could have run a Marathon without too much effort or training. That’s where The Florence Nightingale Hospice fit into my story.
My other 1/2 Gary was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in August 2021, 6 weeks later he passed away peacefully while he slept. It was a hard time for me, although we didn’t get the outcome that I wanted The Florence Nightingale Hospice certainly made life a lot easier for us both but especially for Gary. It was a relief to know we had their constant support. Gary chose to stay at home rather than go into the hospice for care, and they offered every form of care and support we needed.
This year I decided enough was enough so I started running again I did the couch to 5k course with Handy Cross runners, to try and get me back into running, and entered the ballot for the marathon, and got in 😳
Let the training begin “this one’s for you Gary” ❤️❤️
