My Story

Hi I'm Dan and thanks for visiting my London Marathon Mencap fundraising page.

Those of you who know me will know that running is a big part of my life and I have the privilege of taking on the iconic London Marathon this year and raising money for the fantastic charity, Mencap.

I’m doing a competition where people can donate either £5, £10, £15 or £20 with the chance of winning 5 x what they donate. So, as a maximum £20 donation this would result in a £100 win! The competition will involve estimating my finish time down to the second, and to make this fair I will detail what my current records are (5k up to marathon distance). The closest to the finish time will win, and depending on the donation will receive anything from £25 to £100 !

Here are some personal records for reference;

5k - 16:38 (2023)

10k - 35:11 (2023)

Half marathon – 1:17:16 (2023)

Marathon – 3:04:37 (2022)

If you have entered this competition please either put your time in the comments or email me at [email protected] to be added to the spreadsheet

Working as a Police Officer for the past four years has meant I've worked with vulnerable people, including those with learning disabilities, and have witnessed the commendable work our local Mencap (Melton) does with the local community.

Right now, people with a learning disability face inequalities in every area of life with almost 1 in 3 young people with a learning disability spending less than 1 hour outside their home on a typical Saturday.

They face barriers finding a job, accessing activities in their local community and receiving good quality healthcare. Mencap tackle these issues head on by providing support in a way that meets individual needs and encourages greater independence.

By supporting Team Mencap you will be helping them to support people with a learning disability to live the life they choose, and do the things they love.

Thank you for any pennies and pounds you can help me raise!
