My Story
I have wanted to run the London Marathon for a long time, and after 9 years of entering the ballot I have finally got a place for this year's event! I have to say that I had more or less given up on getting a place, and seeing as I was a spritely 34 when I started applying, getting in at a much older 43 initially made me wonder whether it was a good idea!! But the training has started and I am really looking forward to fulfilling a lifelong ambition alongside many other people with similar stories.
In terms of my fundraising, I have decided to raise some money for Rowcroft Hospice in Torbay. Last autumn my sister-in-law was sadly diagnosed with terminal cancer, and passed away just before Christmas 2023 aged just 34. She was moved to Rowcroft, whose staff did an incredible job in making her as comfortable as possible in her final days, and were also really helpful and understanding to my wife's family.
I'm sure everyone knows a family member or friend who has been assisted by somewhere like Rowcroft, and if you can spare a couple of pounds to help them continue doing their amazing work, I and they would be very grateful.
Thanks
Dan
