My Story

Hi Everyone,

I last ran the London Marathon nearly 20 years ago, quickly followed by the New York Marathon later that same year. I had no wish to ever run another one but after securing a a place for a friend of mine I seem to have been press ganged into taking part, I think just to keep him company.

The result being that I am now running again and aching pretty much every where.
I have chosen to run for world Horse Welfare as it's a charity we have been involved with for a number of years. With my wife and daughter both being competitive with their own horse and well known in eventing circles, together with friends being patrons, it seemed an obvious choice.

I would be eternally grateful if you could find the time and money to help raise funds for a great cause. They do amazing work, especially overseas where they help owners who rely on horses to make a living giving all a better standard of life.

I will endeavour to keep you updated over the coming weeks as I work towards crossing the finishing line for the last time, hopefully!

kind regards and a big thank you in advance.

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
