My Story

My running journey started in June 2018 when I set myself the challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital. Having no previous experience of running anything (except a bath!!) before, I bought myself a pair of running shoes, completed the Couch to 5K training program and went along to my local Parkrun at Great Notley. Week on week, I improved my 5K PB time so decided to join the FABULOUS Witham Running Club as a base to build endurance for longer distance running that I needed to complete London Landmarks, which I completed in 2:05:15 thanks to the amazing atmosphere from the spectators along the route (which included my immediate family) and the pride I felt knowing that I was raising vital funds for a fantastic charity!!

My running has improved year on year and having completed many races of all distances from 5K to completing my first marathon at Peterborough in 2021. I continually look for ways to challenge myself and so far have completed 3 sprint triathlons, four Nuclear Obstacle Course Races, Ride Essex 100 and most recently completing my first Ultra Marathon at the Stort 30.

It has always been an ambition of mine to run the London Marathon. Having been unsuccessful in the public ballot this year as in previous years, I resigned myself to having to try again next year. That is until I had the good fortune of having a place transferred from my wife's cousin and fellow London Marathon runner Louise. I received an email while I was away on holiday from St Elizabeths Centre offering me a FANTASTIC opportunity to run the London Marathon for them!! Obviously, this was a no brainer and I replied straight away to gratefully accept their offer.

Having completed a marathon before, I know what it takes to train for and complete it and whilst I'm not taking for granted the massive challenge in front of me, I am looking forward to raising loads of money for the charity and soaking up the AMAZING atmosphere along the route!!

I am also excited to complete the London Marathon as part 2 of 3 of the London Classic medal, all that remains is a mere 2 mile swim of the Serpentine Lake!!

Thank you for taking the time to read my bio. I'd be truly grateful if you are able to help me and my charity by sharing my page with friends and family and donating anything you can (every little helps) and wish me luck for the BIG DAY!!

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.

What’s more, these participants have raised over a billion pounds for charity and there have been countless amazing tales of human achievement throughout the event’s history – living up to its aim of helping participants ‘to have fun, and provide some happiness and sense of achievement in a troubled world’.
