My Story

Hello! I am excited to run my first full marathon for Terrence Higgins Trust (THT). Running a marathon has been a longterm goal of mine, ever since watching my superstar mom run multiple marathons while I was growing up.

I have been inspired by countless people in my life - family, friends, colleagues - to continue to advocate for sexual health services and end HIV stigma. Since moving to London, I have been lucky to come into contact with so many amazing people who work for and support THT, the UK's leading HIV and sexual health charity. For those who know me, you know I am passionate about promoting inclusive, compassionate, community-based sexual health services that work towards health justice, so THT is the perfect fit for my fundraising.

THT has worked tirelessly since its establishment in 1982, during the AIDS crisis, to reduce HIV transmission, support people living with HIV, and elimate stigma against them. However, HIV continues to spread across the UK and the world (especially amongst marginalised groups) and HIV-related stigma remains highly toxic and creates unjust barriers for appropriate prevention and treatment.

By donating to this page, you will be helping THT to:

  • Provide free, community-based STI and HIV testing throughout the UK.
  • Provide free acess to condoms
  • Offer therapy and counselling services to people living with HIV.
  • Assist people living with HIV to access the benefits they are entitled to.
  • Staff a Mon-Sun direct helpline.
  • Offer emotional and financial crisis support.
  • Provide Sexual Health Training for volunteers, businesses, and schools.
  • Campaign on many vital issues, including health equality, inclusive RSE (relationship & sex education), the 'Can't Pass it On' campaign tackling HIV stigma, and the funding of health services.
  • Work towards the UK's goal of ending HIV transmission by 2030.

Currently in the UK, LGBTQ+ anti-bullying campaigns are being axed, and sexual health services are receiving severe cuts, despite being accessed and needed more than ever; the work of THT could therefore not be more important and valuable. Your donation will help them provide the essential services and advice everyone needs to lead a healthy sex life.

Thank you very much for your support - it means a lot to me and the countless people who depend on THT's services. If you can, please share this page with friends, family, neighbors, colleagues, anyone who might want to contribute.

I will be sharing periodic updates with my running progress. If you happen to be in London on April 21, 2024... I hope to see you on the course!
