My Story
Hi all,
I'm back with my begging bowl for another year of boring you to death with run chat, moaning about my various aches and pains, and most importantly, asking you for money for Anthony Nolan.
I've wanted to run a marathon for a long time but it was important for me to run one for a cause close to my heart. Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with blood cancer. They do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to strangers desperately needing a lifesaving transplant.
Leukaemia is an awful disease and one which unfortunately I and some of those closest to me know all too well. In 2017 my Dad was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. We were incredibly lucky that thanks to a life-saving stem cell transplant (and my auntie's stem cells) - He is 6 years in remission. But unfortunately, not everyone diagnosed with Leukaemia gets this happy ending. I'd like to do as much as I can in my lifetime to help change this.
As some of you will know, I was due to run in 2023 but had to pull out after 11 weeks of training due to injury. I was gutted but definitely made the right choice and I'm now ready and more determined than ever before to finish what I started last year.
If you could donate any amount great or small to help me hit my fundraising target I would massively appreciate it, and please come along on the day if you can - It will no doubt be the support of friends and family (and the thought of a freezing cold pint at the end of it) that will get me through those 26.2 miles.
