My Story

Hello, to whoever may be reading this!

On Sunday 21st April 2024, I will be running the London Marathon for St Margaret's Hospice Care. St Margaret’s Hospice have been helping patients and their families by providing hospice care in Somerset for over 40 years. They offer a 24/7 telephone adviceline, a family support service for families with young children & teenagers during a patient’s illness and after, specialist at home care and much more.

In October 2019, my Grandpa Roger passed away from cancer. St Margaret’s Hospice cared for my Grandpa Roger in the time before he died. He was cared for at their Hospice before being moved into the house he had lived in with my Grandma Hazel for many years, as part of St Margaret’s tailored care. He was able to pass peacefully in the comfort of his home.

In April 2023, I lost my other Grandpa, John. He was also cared for at home, with palliative hospice care, and passed peacefully at his home.

Both of my dear Grandpas were cared for in their final months by hospices which is why I wanted to raise money for St Margaret’s who offered such exceptional care and support to my Grandpa Roger and our family. Fundraising money is a crucial and vital source of income for hospices, such as St Margaret’s. I feel privileged to be able to run and raise money for them.

I’ve never classed myself as a ‘runner’ before now, but I know both my grandpa’s will be cheering me on from heaven and will give me the motivation I need to get through training and the race.

Any donation will be gratefully received and will contribute to St Margaret’s being able to keep their exceptional hospice care and support  continuing.
