My Story

I'm absolutely excited to be a part of Team Terry for the London Marathon 2024! 🏃‍♀️

It's going to be the physical challenge of my life (despite being on my bucket list for YEARS). However, I want to prove that your mindset can take you to wonderful places as well as doing it all for a worthy cause! ❤️

My mother worked as an NHS nurse to provide care to those with HIV for many years, which is one of the reasons I wanted to raise money for the incredible work of the Terrence Higgins Trust.

Moreover, we're also all so familiar with the stories on screen around HIV such as Mark Fowler on Eastenders. It was when I watched an episode of Sex Education that I realised how far treatments had come for those living with HIV - BUT there was still so much work to be done around increasing sexual health literacy and combatting stigma. 🥊

Whilst times are tougher than ever, I'd appreciate if you would please read more about the admirable charity below, donate your pennies (there's quiz nights and much more in the works!) but also buy me a 🥂 once I've made it to the finish line 💪 😂

Terrence Higgins Trust are the UK's leading HIV and sexual health charity. They support people living with HIV and amplify their voices, and help the people using our services to achieve good sexual health.

They work to:

end new transmissions of HIV in the UK by 2030;

support people to live well with HIV;

challenge the stigma associated with HIV and with poor sexual health;

deliver high quality services.

They do this by supporting people living with HIV and ensure their voices are heard, providing testing services for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections, and helping the people using our services to achieve good sexual health.

As well as provide services, they campaign on issues from relationships and sex education in schools to the proper funding of HIV services.

They also run community projects such as Positive Voices, which supports people living with HIV to tell their own stories, and work and skills programmes for people living with HIV. And on behalf of Public Health England, they lead It Starts With Me, the national HIV prevention programme.
