My Story

My name is Freya, I am 24 years old and diagnosed with Endometriosis at 21. I currently work in Perinatal Mental Health. Since then, I have been running an Instagram account @thoseendosisters with my sister to educate others on what it is/helpful tips living with endometriosis.  My symptoms first startd to show at age 15, leading to a 7 year journey to diagnosis. It is now understood that 1 in 10 women have endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a whole-body disease, where cells similar to the lining of your uterus grow outside of your uterus. Some symptoms I experience often include pelvic pain, lower back pain, extreme tiredness and brian fog (to name a few).

We need to break the stereotypes of it "just being a period". Wellbeing of Women's  "Just a period" campaign was an incredible experience to be a part of.  WoW is a UK charity which funds all reproductive and gynaecological health. Some research examples they have funded include:

  • Establishing the link between HPV and cervical cancer which resulted in the first preventative school-wide vaccination programme.
  • Developing the first potential non-hormonal and non-surgical treatment for endometriosis
  • Demonstrating the safety and effectiveness of the Covid-19 vaccine for pregnant women and their babies

Please donate and share my journey to help suport research for women. Thank you so much for your donations!
