My Story

400km - 4 months - 4 charity

Between April 2024 and August 2024 I am going to be running 400km for charity, kicking off with the TCS London Marathon on Sunday 21st April. From May - August I will be running 5 ultra marathons: two 100km races, one 58km race and two 50km races.

I am raising money for the amazing charity CHECT to support them in their incredible work with children, young people and their families.

The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust (CHECT) is free and open to anyone affected by retinoblastoma (Rb), a rare childhood cancer of the eye. This includes friends, family, supporters of CHECT and health professionals. CHECT offers lifelong support to families, starting from the moment a child is diagnosed and continuing through treatment, into adulthood, and beyond.

As the UK’s only charity dedicated to helping people affected by Rb, CHECT:

  • Provides support and information to families and individuals.
  • Funds research into the prevention and treatment of retinoblastoma.
  • Raises awareness among health professionals and the public.
  • Influences policy to improve services for patients.

CHECT receive no government funding and rely on the kindness of others, to provide their services.

  • £5 could provide a newsletter offering information and support to up to 5 people affected
  • £50 could fund a place at a regional event for a family feeling isolated
  • £500 could fund grants for up to three families struggling with the cost of monthly hospital visits
  • £5000 could fund a weekend for teenagers affected by Rb to build their confidence

Visit their website for more information www.chect.org.uk.

Any support is hugely appreciated!
