My Story

Hello! I am taking on the TCS London Marathon in 2024 for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. Please help me reach my target of £2,500 and support our Armed Forces community!

I am running this marathon for two important reasons:

1) To honour my Grandad, John Proctor, who volunteered for SSAFA for many years after retiring from the police force. One of my earliest memories is being driven around by him to visit people who benefitted from the charity and support offered by SSAFA. He sadly passed away in October 2021, and my family miss him so much. Members from SSAFA attended his funeral and I made a promose to them that I would do something to give back to the charity, so here I am!

2) I always said to myself I would run a marathon before I am 40, which I will be a few months after the 2024 marathon, time to make it happen!

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is a trusted source of practical, emotional, and financial support for serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need. In 2021 our trained teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 66,000 people, from Second World War veterans to those who have served in more recent conflicts, or currently serving (both regulars and reserves), and their families.

SSAFA understands that behind every uniform is a person. And we are here for that person and their family, any time they need us and in any way they need us.
