My Story

Dear friends, gather around and let me tell you an epic tale of running, unwavering determination, and a dash of mid-life madness! You see, a few years back, I, yes, little old me, decided to take on the legendary London Marathon!

Now, don't let my deceivingly ordinary legs fool you, for on that momentous day, I navigated the streets of London with agility, effortlessly weaving through the crowds of my fellow runners, I was unstoppable... until I hit mile fifteen. A noticeable shift occurred – the initial vigor began to dissipate. The legs that had once moved with lively enthusiasm now bore the burden of every step, each mile etching its own story on the pavement.

As I crossed the finish line, trailing behind someone whimsically dressed as Bob the Minion, gasping for breath and my poor cramping legs begging for mercy, I boldly proclaimed, "never again!" I solemnly vowed to retire from the marathon scene.

But, fate has a wicked sense of humour! A strange twist of destiny unfolded, when the date of the 2024 London marathon was revealed to be none other than the day of my 40th birthday! Coincidence? Fate? Who knows!

It was like the universe was daring me, taunting me, asking, "do you have the guts to conquer me once more?" And in that moment of reckless bravery I thought "why not! Let's give it one last hurrah!"

And so, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, I embrace my destiny, my fate is intertwined with the London Marathon once more! I'm ready to embark on yet another 26.2 mile adventure.

I'm not just running for my own glory though. I'm on a mission to raise as much money as I can for Demelza Hospice, a charity that means a lot to me and my family. If I'm going to put myself through this madness again, I might as well do it for a greater purpose.

So mark your calendars, wish me luck, donate what you can and don't forget to have some cold beers ready for my post-marathon celebration!
