McGee’s MacMillan Marathon Fundraising!

My Story

I have always enjoyed running and have previously completed 5k, 10k and 2 half marathons and after a few attempts at the ballot, I decided it was the right time to try and gain a charity place - this year I was successful.

I applied to Macmillan because when I was 27 I was diagnosed with cervical cancer and was supported by macmillan and their fantastic team throughout my 6 month journey of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and brachythearpy.

After over 10 years being clear from cancer and heading into my 40th year of life, I decided now was the right time for me to give this challenge a whirl. My dad, who is 68, is also running the marathon this year so we will be facing this adventure together.

Thank you so much for choosing to read my story and supporting my chosen charity if you can - I really appreciate it.

Let the training commence!

The London Marathon has become an annual, inspiring and colourful fixture in the world’s sporting calendar since the inaugural race on 29 March 1981: a celebration of fun, fundraising and fancy dress.

Over the years more than a million people have completed the 26.2-mile course – which runs from Blackheath to The Mall, with a spectacular finish in front of Buckingham Palace, showcasing the very best that the capital city has to offer.
