My Story
Yes, you read that right … I’m running the London Marathon!
As anyone who knows me will know, im not a runner … AT ALL. But when I went to watch the London Marathon in 2023 the atmosphere was electric, and I knew I needed to feel that buzz first hand! The first thing I did when I got home was sprint over to running bear (pun intended) to pick up my first pair of running trainers and used my new wheels for the first time on 2nd May 2023. I have tracked every run on Strava, and I have linked it below so you can follow my progress!
More importantly, running the marathon this year isn’t just about the huge personal milestone it’s also providing me with the platform to raise an incredible amount of money for an even more wonderful cause….Maggie’s Manchester!
In case you don’t already know, Maggie’s Manchester are a cancer care charity based right next to the Christie hospital. They provide support to patients, friends and families, from pre diagnosis all the way through to remission care or in the worst-case scenario, bereavement support. This support is provided free of charge, without any acceptance criteria - patients and their families can just walk in and immediately access support.
To put this into context it costs £4,000 to run Maggie’s each day.
I have been fundraising for Maggie’s at work throughout 2023, continuing into 2024. Collectively we have already raised over £65,000… and counting, so we’ve already funded 16 days at Maggie’s, but there’s still more to do.
Every donation is extremely appreciated, and I would love to race to and beyond the £3,000 target! Thank you so much for your support in advance.
