My Story

London Marathon 2024 Children with Cancer.
In memory of Sam Dunkley 10-10-2005-04-04-2021.
In January 2018 Neil and Sarah were given the devastating news no parents should ever hear or have to endure during their child's life. Sam their talented, intelligent, funny and once full of life son had Lymphoblastic Leukaemia-this cancer affects the blood and bone marrow. Sam was a talented Golf player he started playing at the very young age of 5, he won an adult golf tournament at the age of 14 whilst battling cancer he had promising future but Cancer took that from him, his family and friends. September 2018, Sam had a bone marrow transplant which failed and his donor was to poorly after the first transfusion to donate again but courageously Sam battled on and fought the disease for 3 years but in the end the gruelling pain and suffering he endured in that short time was all too much for him. Sam sadly passed away on Sunday 4th April 2021, age just 15, he collected 2873 beads, but he never got to ring the bell instead his last bead is a butterfly to mark his passing. On Sunday 21st April I will be running 26.2 miles In Sam's memory and I hope to raise awareness of childhood cancer please donate today to help fund life saving research into childhood cancer no parents should have to go through what Sarah and Neil did and no child should have their childhood taken by this deliberating disease. Together we can help end this illness so children aren't been denied their childhoods. Your donation can make a massive difference, to a child and their family. Together let's help children beat cancer.
