My Story

Running the London Marathon has always been a dream that I never thought would become a reality. Losing my Dad and Stepdad to dementia has given me the motivation to participate in this inspiring, challenging but colourful and fun event, whilst raising money and awareness for such a great cause.
My Stepdad David died from dementia in June last year. In the preceding months I witnessed first hand the devastating effects of this disease on the patient as well as family members and carers. To see the drastic decline in the physical and mental capabilities is shocking and heart- breaking. The toll it took on my Mum’s well-being, as she tried to care for David is also truly hard to comprehend.
Dementia UK is an amazing charity which cares for the whole family, ‘working towards a day when no-one has to face dementia alone’ Their specialist nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing advice and support, to anyone affected by dementia, whenever it is needed. It will be an honour and a privilege to represent this brilliant charity and complete this challenge for my lovely Dad Peter and my wonderful Stepdad David, who I know will be by my side every step of the way to get me through it.
Thank you for your generous donations, they are all so appreciated and will make such a difference.
