Running the marathon for Asylum-Seekers
Hannah
My Story
I began working with the LJS Drop-in for Asylum-Seekers in April 2022 whilst I was still in Law School. Since then, I have continued to dedicate myself to my legal career whilst working with the hundreds of desperate families that the Drop-in supports. I care deeply about each of the individuals we turn away, and we currently have an ever-increasing waiting list of families. I hope that we might be able to secure funding for another few months of essential support to some very needy and traumatised families. I will not be able to stay in this role forever, so it would be wonderful to leave the project with a lasting legacy. One of my favourite aspects of the Drop-in is providing children with school uniform, and I hope that some of the money raised through the marathon may be used for our school uniform drive in the Summer of 2024.
I became a passionate runner during the Covid-19 pandemic, though have become somewhat lax since moving to London. I hope that this new goal will allow me to return to my intensive training routine, whilst raising funds for a very worthwhile cause.
