My Story

Welcome to my fundraising page. As some of you may know, I recently suffered a brain injury which has significantly impacted my life. In April 2022, I experienced a traumatic brain injury. I spent nearly three weeks in an ICU fighting for my life and was told it is a miracle that I am alive.

As a result of the brain injury, I've faced numerous obstacles and limitations in performing everyday tasks. One of the hardest I face is memory loss. There have been times where I have no recollection of ever seeing some family members before. I still suffer with sort term memory loss and have periods that I do not recall long term.

I have experienced depression, anxiety, and sleep insomnia. After lots of successful CBT therapy this has reduced and is more manageable day to day.

Inevitably I have been unable to continue my education at college and complete my qualification as a plumber. Currently I feel my life is on pause, how can I carry on education and pass my driving test when I struggle to remember things from a couple of days ago.

Headway Surrey has supported me with fortnightly check ins, offering both my family and I support in multiple ways when nobody else could. This is why I have taken up the challenge of participating in the London Marathon 2024 to support Headway in helping others like me. As every year around 350,000 people are admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury.

By adding ‘gift aid’ to your donation this can help Headway make an extra 25% on donated goods. If you would like to donate to my fundraising page via cash, please message me so I can arrange for this to be added.
