My Story

Alun and Henri Cairns will join forces to run this year’s London Marathon in support of Children with Cancer.

This is Alun’s 12th Marathon and Henri’s first – not that they are in competition... maybe just friendly rivalry!

Children with Cancer is a first-class charity that helps fund research and cancer care for children and families at the most difficult times. The cases we know are both heart-breaking and inspiring.

The charity co-funded elements of a ground-breaking clinical trial which led to one of the biggest breakthroughs in the treatment of childhood leukaemia some years ago and continue in this vein. They also support families during the difficult treatment times.

We recognise that there are many calls on your generosity but hope that you will be able to support such a worthy cause and nudge us along to help us complete the 26 mile course.

Henri said, “Running for such a worthwhile cause is an honour and a great motivation. Dad is getting older and I plan to smile as I pass him en-route!”

Alun said, “Only around 2% of cancer funding in the UK is spent on research aimed at childhood and young adult cancers. Any donation, big or small, can help to make a difference.”

He also added, “In terms of running, I look forward to proving experience will trump youth!”

Thank you for your support in any form. We are truly grateful.
