My Story

Even though 1 in 4 people have mental health problems, most of us don’t get the help we need. This has to change. We’re Mind. We’re here to fight mental health. For support, for respect, for you.

Being one of the 1 in 4, I know how difficult it can be to speak up about and face how you are truly feeling while trying to pretend everything is okay on the outside. After struggling with my mental health through school, associations like Mind are really important in not only supporting individuals through difficult times but also raising awareness about the importance of mental health.

One of the most helpful ways in being able to regulate emotions and also to make myself feel better was exercise, in particular, running. I began Couch to 5K on several different occasions before actually completing the program in Spring 2022. Then I decided I needed a new challenge to keep me running and motivated, so I applied for the London Marathon (as you do).

As daunting as this challenge is and how far I am pushing myself out of my comfort zone, I am proud in recognising that it will not just benefit myself but the money I raise for Mind is so vital in fighting for change surrounding attitudes towards mental health and supporting everyone who needs it.

I am so grateful for everyones support <3
