On 21st April I will be attempting to run The London Marathon, and helping to raise £2000 (I hope you're feeling generous!) for the University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) Charity.
Before last year, I struggled to even run 5km, but decided last January I was going to get my arse in gear and ended up running a Half marathon in April (Though at the time, I said to myself I couldn't think of anything worse than having to do that, TWICE! But here we are...).
Running a marathon distance has always been a bucket list thing for me, in particular the London Marathon. However, I have always thought of it as unachievable feat, so it definitely feels like a mammoth task!!! However, training is going well so I am hoping to feel prepared come April 21st.
All money raised will be going towards specialist rehabilitation equipment at UHD Poole Hospital, specifically a specialist wheelchair to help those going through the absolute darkest days of their life at the beginning of their rehabilitation journey, including those effected by brain injury, spinal cord injury and other neurological conditions to help us as a Rehab team provide the best service for our patients.
I feel in a privileged position to run the London Marathon in general, and even moreso for the UHD Charity, which I know will have such a positive knock on effect for our patients.
Any offerings of support, messages and donations will go a long way in helping our patients recover in hospital, as well as keep me motivated and disciplined in my training and on race day.
No donation is too small, please donate what you can to a great cause.
I will be posting semi-regular updates on my Strava, Facebook and Instagram pages to if you want to keep track then give me a follow and please share this page!
