My Story
In 2021 I got the worst news anyone could receive. Being called by one of my closest friends to be told that you had lost your best friend was incomprehensible.
Lawrence was an extremely intelligent, loving, and charismatic person who had so much to give. He was explorative and always looking forward to the next adventure that we could plan as a group. Forever up for a good time it was impossible to tell that Lawrence was struggling. To hear that he was no longer with us made me feel like I had to do more. I had to check in with my friends more regularly and I have to call them to catch up. Checking in and having meaningful conversations with your friends can help, even if they don't open up. I will forever miss Lawrence, and there is not a day that goes by that I don't wish I would see a message from him pop up in our group chat.
I have qualified for the London Marathon 2024 but that is not the achievement. I have been given the chance to raise money for a charity of my choice and the personal touch that Mind carries makes it a must for me to support. If I can raise any sort of money that goes towards the help of someone so that other friends and families do not have to go through what we have been through, then THAT is the real achievement.
My legs will do what the can on April 21st and I will train as well as I possibly can to do Lawrence proud. But the real mission, for me, between now and then, is raising any funds that can help anyone who feels like they are lost, or struggling.
Please join me on this journey and if you can spare anything, even £1, everything helps. Thank you for taking this time to read my message. Love you all.

A message from Mind:
Even though 1 in 4 people have mental health problems, most of us don’t get the help we need. This has to change.
We’re Mind. We’re here to fight mental health. For support for respect, for you.
We change minds across England and Wales by making mental health an everyday priority. By standing up to the injustices – in healthcare, in work, in law – which make life harder for those of us with mental health problems.
We support minds – offering help whenever you might need it through our information, advice and local services. We connect minds. Bringing together an unstoppable network of individuals and communities – people who care about mental health to make a difference.
Join us in the fight for mental health. We won’t stop until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect.
