My Story

The majority of us at some point have been impacted by some horrible experience with cancer in our lives. For family and friends around me it has completely changed the course of our lives, which makes the support of charities and research to reduce the risk of others ever having to experience the same in future so important; and an amazing cause to be running the marathon for.

The charity I’m running for is Chordoma UK, who do vital work in the treatment, learning and support of a very rare form of cancer. Chordoma is a rare form of bone cancer that typically arises in the base of the skull or the spine, and given its differences and rarity to other forms of cancer has seen very little funding or research on a relative basis from large organisations. By nature it is a very difficult cancer to treat, with well-known methods involving chemotherapy deemed near ineffective, and therefore requiring highly advanced (and expensive) surgeries and treatments instead. This means that for those without the means to do so there are therefore no alternative treatments, and the support of this charity becomes ever more important.

Fundraising events like this are key to the operation and efforts of Chordoma UK, given its rare nature they are majorly self-funded, and therefore for any donations to this amazing cause we would be more than grateful.

Running the marathon in April, so training is well under way, please do your best to donate to this incredible cause!

Thanks all,

Jake
