My Story

Hi,

My name is James. My little sister, Hannah, suffered from significant mental health problems since at least 2015. Despite her troubles Hannah was extraordinarily caring, funny and clever, and she do would anything for anyone. She was training to be nurse when her mental health deteriorated, the impacts of her struggles felt by our whole family.

At times it has been difficult for us to know where to get help. For Hannah and the rest of our family Samaritans was there to help navigate through the often painful and confusing times.

Unfortunately in March 2023 Hannah lost her struggle and took her own life. I've lost my sister and friend to mental health struggles, and I feel an enormous amount of regret for what I could have done. As a result, I feel a duty to raise money to help others going through what she went through.

As a result, I have decided to run London Marathon 2024 for Samaritans in Hannah's name. I'd be hugely grateful for any donations, small or large.

Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and Samaritans vision is that fewer people die by suicide. Suicide and mental health are still a massive stigma in the UK. Samaritans also work tirelessly to try and stop this stigma. They are there for people 24/7 no judgment and to talk about anything. You can call 116 123 to speak to a volunteer any time. I have pledged to raise £2500 which will enable Samaritans to train 13 new volunteers to take those potentially life saving calls.

Thank you!

James
