My Story
I am running the London Marathon for MIND.
In my work, I am in a privileged position to chat with dozens of men each week as I cut their hair. In many cases, the cut is often second to the time to talk and be with others. I have had many ‘hearts-on-sleeves’ moments with my customers, and I am honoured that people value this time. We all carry our own burdens!
In March 23, I lost a great friend Matt to suicide. It was the most unexpected phone call I’ve ever received. As a friend, I never really knew how much he was suffering until it was too late.
All of this has spurred me on to make the bold move to run the London Marathon for MIND, in memory of Matt and for all those who need that extra support in some way.
I have committed to raising £2,000 for MIND, if this is enough to change to course of events for one individual, then I feel I have made a difference.
The London Marathon is a personal goal, and I now feel that I have the opportunity to use this in a positive way in support of something important to me. Thank you for your sponsorship – I am confident that your money will go a long way. Let’s hope that I can too (26.2miles long)!
