My Story

On 21st April 2024, a week after turning 30, I will be taking on one of my biggest challenges...running my first marathon. All 26.2 miles of it!

I enjoy running but this is going to be tough! Running for an amazing charity like Amigos Worldwide is great motivation though.

"Amigos Worldwide comes alongside disadvantaged communities in Uganda to support them through its integrated programmes,  sustainable community development, family sponsorship and Kira Farm Development Centre, its vocational training centre. In this way, communities are able to take collective action to move towards a more sustainable and vibrant future.

Amigos Worldwide works with children, youths and caregivers in rural communities, facilitating training, education and infrastructure so that they may become self-supporting in the future.  We don't believe that there is a magic wand that will end poverty, but we DO believe that by providing people with access to training in vocational skills, conservation farming and communication skills while children attend school, they can see long term, sustainable transformations.

Each year Kira Farm Development Centre welcomes up to 50 young trainees. They learn vocational, business, communication and conservation farming skills, as well as conflict resolution.  They arrive broken, dejected and without hope,  but after a year they re-enter their communities, becoming respected leaders and changemakers, and support the sustainable community development programme."

As I run I often think about some of the incredible people I met whilst visiting Kira Farm in 2022. Dedicated staff and inspiring young people who had been through so much and yet were determined and still had so much joy and hope for the future.

Amigos is working to create sustainable and lasting change and anything you can give towards this is much appreciated.

Thank you for your support!
