My Story
As you might know I ran the London Marathon for the first time this year at the age of 77....I made it to the end and it spurred me on to want to do it again in 2024 in my 78th year. This time I have decided to run for Alzheimer's Research. This was a personal choice, you might know that I lost my wife of 52 years suddenly 4 years ago in April 2019. She was diagnosed shortly before she passed away with this awful disease so it's a charity very close to both mine and my families hearts. April 2024 is even more poignant as this will mark 5 year anniversary of her passing.
I have set myself a target to raise £2000 towards vital research to help those suffering and those yet to be diagnosed, I have also donated £200 of my own money. Having lived through it personally it is so cruel to see someone disappearing from the person they once were with very limited treatment currently available. One day I hope they find a cure and by doing my bit that I help in some way.
Anything you can donate, whatever you can spare will go such a long way. Thank you so much in advance for helping me raise money, your support is much appreciated! John Hill
