My Story
After getting the 'running bug' in my mid 30's, I've enjoyed a few years of pounding the pavements of West Yorkshire, with the occasional 10km or half marahon race thrown in. After hitting 40 in September, I wanted to begin my next decade with a big challenge that far outdid anything that I have ever previously accomplished in a pair of running shoes! As such, in April 2024, I will be running my first ever marathon and I'm delighted that I'll be doing it to raise money for such a worthy cause: BLOOD CANCER UK.
My place in the Marathon is largely through my sister's partner, whose good friend was diagnosed and beat, promyelocytic leukemia. I will certainly give a thought to him whilst I run, and to others, who I know have been affected by Blood Cancer in one of its various forms.
Every 14 minutes, someone in the U.K is diagnosed with a type of blood cancer and after contacting the charity and reading more about the work they do, my goal is quite simple: raise as much money as possible over the next five months for BLOOD CANCER UK, so they can continue to fund research and support those who are affected by the disease.
My target is an absolute minimum of £2000, so please, if you're able and willing, consider supporting my endeavours. I will be forever grateful :-)
Thank you!
John
