My Story

I want to raise as much money as I can to aid research into a long-term solution for people with diabetes πŸ™πŸ»

In 2007 I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. This came as a huge shock, as there was no family history at all. I was just lucky!! πŸ™„πŸ˜‚.

Whilst lying in my hospital bed I decided that I would not allow this to change my life in a negative way.

From the moment I left the hospital I continued with my 'normal' life, making sure my body was controlled and I was able to take part in all the normal things I loved to do.

This, of course, has not been without it's challenges but I have continued to enjoy sport, exercise and all the wonderful things that everyday life has to offer.

I am now taking on the biggest physical challenge of my life, by running the 2024 London Marathon!

I don't know if this makes sense but, if I can complete it, I will almost feel vindicated and free from this illness. Tough to explain but that's how I feel πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ.

I would love to be able to set an example to all the other people who suffer with this illness and  most of all, make my friends, family, colleagues and the children I teach immensely proud!

Thank you for any support you can give and I'll try my hardest to complete this mammoth task without killing myself!!! πŸ˜‚πŸƒπŸΌπŸ’ͺ🏻.

Dad will be with me. Xxx
