My Story

Inspired by Julian's fundraising and marathon running efforts for Cancer charities last year, Geoff was planning to run the 2024 London Marathon for Breast Cancer Now. Just as his 20 week training plan and the countdown to race day started, Geoff received the diagnosis that his breast cancer had metastasized in his spine.

Geoff says “I am no longer able to run the London Marathon in 2024 following a recent diagnosis which means I am struggling to walk let alone run. Running the London Marathon was not just about raising important funds for Breast Cancer Now but also for me it was to highlight Breast Cancer within Men. Julian and I share a love for walking and running and I am delighted that he has accepted the challenge to run on my behalf.

Julian says “I was absolutely gutted to hear Geoff’s news that his cancer had returned. I know from our conversations how much he had trained for the marathon already and was really looking forward to achieving this ambition. When Geoff asked me if I would take his place so he could still raise money for this incredible charity I accepted straight away. Breast Cancer in Men is not something that is spoken about. Running this marathon for Breast Cancer Now will help us to raise some much needed funds and more importantly to us will raise awareness around Breast Cancer in Men. Geoff has already supplied me with some of his favourite training runs so I will be giving them a go.
