My Story

I am delighted to be running in the TCS London Marathon 2024 for Peloton's UK charity partner Sporting Equals.

Becoming an independent charity in 2007 working on race inclusion in sport and physical activity.

Sporting Equals are a System Partner for both sportscotland & Sport England. Working with government, national governing bodies, Active Partnerships, and corporate partners.

They deliver: policy change -  community projects - influencing & advocacy

Peloton began partnering with Sporting Equals in 2021, with our contributions enabling the launch of their London-based program BACK2ACTIVE. The program focused on the physical health and well-being of Ethnically Diverse Individuals across London to help them become the best versions of themselves. This work was especially important following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the associated lockdowns that had cut people off from the means to be physically active.

In the first year of the partnership, we ran the BACK2ACTIVE programme partnering with community organisations in London to improve the knowledge, behaviour, and attitudes of members towards living a healthier and active lifestyle.

The organisations in the BACK2ACTIVE programme encompassed a wide variety of sports and helped to challenge the stereotypes often faced by those from ethnically diverse communities whilst celebrating culture, religion, and community.

In the second year of the partnership, Sporting Equals ran their international women's day event in partnership with Peloton from Peloton Studios London. Comprising of a phenomenal live treadmill class with Susie Chan. This class was attended by a number of our associate members following the class Sporting Equals hosted a Q&A looking at how sport and physical activity can better embrace equity. This was presented by one of Peloton’s leading instructors, Hannah Frankson. Alongside Hannah was Nileeka Bose (Founder of BollyCo Dance Company) and Vanessa Wallace (Paralympian and Sporting Equals Trustee).

At the start of the third year of the partnership, Peloton hosted a Black History Month class with Sporting Equals. In addition to this, they sponsored the Sportswoman of the Year category for the 2023 Sporting Equals Awards won by Katarina Johnson-Thompson.
