My Story
Sadly, most of us have lost someone that they love. I have and that is my lovely Nan - 'Nanny Cassie'.
In 2017, we discovered that she had throat cancer. No cancer is good, but this one is particularly brutal. It caused my Nan incredible pain and discomfort until she passed away just one year later after it spread to her lungs... all of our hearts were broken.
Experiencing the horror of cancer and the effect that the treatment had on my Nan, highlighted the importance of hospices. The huge role they play in supporting those that are terminally ill or those with life-limiting illnesses and their families, is vital. St Clare Hospice relies on the support of our local community to help raise the funds needed to deliver the outstanding care they provide to the people we love.
My Nan and our family were supported by 'Hospice at Home'. We will be forever grateful for the knowledge, kindness and empathy shown to us all as my Nan's life was coming to an end. Running the London Marathon will be an honour and I am thankful for the opportunity, it would also be my way to say 'thank you' to all who work within the hospice community, alongside raising much-needed funds for a charity very close to my heart.
Thank you for taking the time to read a little bit of my story, and for donating in memory of my amazingly brave little Nan, Lynne Field.
