My Story

Most people will know that I am not a runner!  However, I am running the London Marathon 2024 to raise funds for the National Autistic Society so I've had to lace up my trainers and get out there.  Not easy when you are starting in winter and it's either pouring with rain or freezing cold but I have got myself up to 10k so far and sticking to the plan to build up.

So - why autism?  There are around 700,000 people with autism in the UK, including members of my own family.  This condition affects the everyday lives of people on the spectrum including how they communicate with other people, sensitivity to light, noises and social situations and repetitive and/or restrictive behaviours.

In addition to campaigning, the National Autistic Society provides residential services for adults, educational services for children, support for autistic people finding work and training for employers seeking to become autism-friendly, amongst other support in the community services.  I would like to raise awareness of the disorder along with raising funds for the Society and I am grateful for every donation, however big or small!

I will be posting training updates so feel free to keep checking back!
