My Story
Thank you for visiting my page! April 21st 2024, I’ll be attempting to run 26.2 miles in the London marathon - considering around 2 months ago I hadn’t moved my legs faster than walking pace since about 2013, it’s most definitely going to be a personal challenge!
Most of you who know me will know that I have an entire squad of nieces and nephews - 9 amazing little humans ranging from 6 years old to under 1. These angels mean the entire world to me and I couldn’t begin to imagine, nor would I want to, the life changing cancer diagnoses that around 10 littlens receive in the UK daily as well as the impact this has on their loved ones.
This is why, amongst numerous fantastic charities, I have chosen to run for Children with Cancer UK to support their incredible work.
Now, me running the marathon doesn’t come close to the pain of those affected. But mine and your donations will help Children with Cancer UK to continue their efforts in aiming to create a world where every child survives cancer. Plus, it will make it feel even more worthwhile crossing that finish line, achieving a personal goal, whilst knowing I have helped to support such an amazing charity.
Please read on to find out why this charity stood out to me and why even the smallest donations can help to make such a huge difference.
Cancer is the leading cause of death in children aged 1-14 years old in the UK, and survivors can face a lifetime of serious issues as a result of intensive treatments. Cancer with Children UK aims to dedicate research specifically into childhood cancers to improve diagnosis and find better and kinder treatments.
Additionally, Children with Cancer UK provides support for children and their families throughout treatment and beyond. They ease financial burdens including travel and accommodation costs; fund ‘patient hotels’ near hospitals so that families can stay close to their child receiving treatment; arrange ‘amazing days out’ which over 75,000 patients and family members have participated in; and through conferences, events, initiatives and campaigns they continue to raise awareness and help the public and scientific community understand childhood cancer better.
Every single donation, no matter how big or small, counts.
26.2 miles… I’m coming for ya!
