My Story

Today I am well, tomorrow ...?

2018 I had the devasting news I had Ocular Melanoma in my left eye . My eye was removed a few days later, the tumour was too big and aggressive to do anything else.
2020 I was due to run the London marathon, unfortunately the world shut down due to coronavirus.  I walked the marathon distance on the 26th April as I trained and needed to complete what I'd set out to do.

April 2020, Monday the 28th I received a call to say the cancer had spread to my liver and it was terminal -no cure. I was given 2-3 years if treatment worked.  There were no trials due to the lockdown so I went on immunotherapy, palliative care.

Fast to forward October 2021, I received a phone call from Clatterbridge Cancer Hospital about a trial. Replimune 2. This was 8 treatments, which were fortnightly, of a virus injected directly in to 3 largest tumours in my liver, I have 8. The results have been fantastic. The cancer mass has shrunk by around 60%!

Wakefield Hospice helped me get through some terrible months, during lockdown, phoning every 2 weeks to check in.

I now have a chance to pay them back and to try ane make sure they are still there when I get poorly, which I will.
Times are tough and there's absolutely no doubt my life will get tougher, but for now we fight.

please help if you can.
