My Story

I was training for the virtual London Marathon in 2022 when I was diagnosed with Lobular Breast cancer, it was a complete shock since my mammogram had been clear three weeks earlier.

Breast cancer broke me and my family but I was determined not to let it take away my dream of running the Virtual London Marathon So I carried on training throughout both my mastectomys and my Radiotherapy. Running helped me focus, kept me sane and helped my recovery both Mentally and Physically,  I owe my life to it.

I ran it in October 2022, Six weeks post Mastectomy, three days post Radiotheraphy and raised £1300 for my local hospital charity, Over & Above.

In April 2023 I ran it again, this time topless, showing my Mastectomy scars to remove the Stigma of flat closure surgery, promote Body Positivity and to raise awareness of Lobular Breast Cancer.

I have since ran the Barnstaple Marathon Topless and I run topless most days round my village and around the UK and post my runs on social Media  to spread the message around the World  that women are more than their breasts & their bodies and don't need to go through invasive surgery to put breasts back just to please society, we are enough.

I will be running for 'Breast Cancer Now' in London 2024 because this charity are brilliant, they support research as well as help survivors recover from this disease.

It has been my dream to run in London and of course I will be running topless to carry on spreading my important messages. I will be the first woman ever in the world to run a Marathon topless so this is a massive moment in History and hopefully it will become a guiness World Record!

I am grateful that I can run, that I am alive and that I have been given the chance to see my kids grow up.

Cancer broke me but it also changed my life for the better, it made me realise what's important and that empowering others is what I was meant to do!

I am very happy Breast Cancer Now have chosen me to be in their team as I can finally  raise money for them to help others going through the same journey I have and hopefully make it that little bit easier.
