London Marathon for Weldmar Hospice
Lucy Bradbury
My Story
In April, I will be running the 2024 London Marathon for the Weldmar Hospice, a charity very close to my heart. Most people in the Dorset area will know of someone, or have themselves benefitted, from the services that Weldmar Hospice provides for patients and their families who face life-limiting illnesses. I myself, as well as my family, are currently receiving much appreciated support from Weldmar whilst we face some challenging times.
They provide medical and emotional support in both the community and their hospice in Dorchester. Their team comprises of dedicated healthcare professionals who offer a range of services including pain and symptom management, respite care, and end-of-life support. Weldmar doesn’t just care for the patient but extends their support to family members, ensuring they feel included and assisted throughout the journey. They allow patients to live their remaining time with comfort and peace, and most importantly enjoy their time with their families.
Over the past few years, I have witnessed first hand the vital role that palliative care plays in ensuring comfort and peace at the end of somebody's life. Only 20% of Weldmar's costs are met by the NHS, and so they rely on donations to fund the rest. Please help me to raise my target of £2000 to help Weldmar continue their vital work.
I am training for the marathon with a niggling achilles tendon injury and so your generous donations are really keeping me motivated!
