My Story

We are both extremely grateful to be running to fundraise for Mind, a charity with a message that we feel hugely passionate about. Every person’s mental health is so incredibly important and we believe awareness needs to be raised about the very real, very ugly consequences that come with having a poor mental health.

Many of you may know that my younger sister Dulcie suffers with some mental health problems and she is currently receiving treatment in hospital for these. Everyday she is battling to get better and sadly she is not always supported by the system that she has no choice but to be a part of.

We spend a lot of time feeling helpless to Dulcie because her situation is so complex and we don’t always understand it. What we can do, though, is educate ourselves and use what we have learned to educate those around us, so that together we can advocate for better and more genuine support for the most vulnerable people in our society.

We are running for Dulcie, to help her recognise that she does matter and we need her here with us. When I grow up, I hope I’m at least as half as brave as she is every day.

Donating to Mind helps them support people like Dulcie: they campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. It might seem like a very small gesture or donation, but the difference it makes is huge.

We are so proud to be joining Mind in their fight for mental health. They won’t stop until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect.
