My Story

If you know me, you know how much I love running! Whether it's a Movember run, a local fun run or a parkrun on Christmas Day, I'm there! There's something about finding the headspace on a long run that has recently had me hooked.

This summer, I decided to join a local running group called the Sunday Running Club (SRC) & it's transformed my approach to running & fitness. The positive, hardworking attitude that the club creates towards running is inspiring, motivating and addictive! Nowadays I am most likely aiming to get a 5km done before most are awake (& before some have even returned from a night out on the Nelson Mandelas!).

So why a marathon? And why London? Well, for years, I have wanted to run the London Marathon. Nothing else compares: watching it on the tele or as a spectator, hearing 'The Trap' along with the build up, the flatlay pics, the buzz around the city on the day, the volunteering heroes, the offerings of jelly babies & roars of applause - it's something I have always wanted to experience on the otherside of those silver barriers.

This year, I felt it was time. An opportunity arose with a local charity - the John Taylor Hospice (now the Birmingham Hospice). Seeing the strengths they go to as a charity and just how highly my local community speak of them, I felt it was very fitting for me to represent them by returning to my hometown and flying the flag for a truly great cause.

If you can spare any form of donation, it would really help me get that step closer towards achieving my target and helping such a fantastic cause!
