London Marathon 2024 - Run for Mum 🌻
MAC
My Story
I am going to be running the London marathon 2024!!
Our incredible Mum lost her battle to cancer in 2018; no matter how hard she fought, unfortunately the cancer overtook. Since this, I have become passionate about raising awareness and funds (along with my sister) for cancer charities. Until you’re involved with a family member, a friend, or yourself you have no idea the impact it causes on both the patient and yourself.
The diagnosis is completely overwhelming, let alone the journey of treatment and the fear of the unknown. From being diagnosed in June 2017, going into remission January 2018, then coming back with aggressive vengeance June 2018 to passing in September, the emotions were non-stop. Everybody is unique but I cannot begin to imagine the impact this has on families with young children, especially from such a young age when they can’t process their feelings!
I have always been into running, a little stop-start, but a family passion, with Mum being the number one cheerleader- writing training plans, motivating me, coming out to train with me and ensuring I have all the gear! My mum was an incredible runner herself competing alongside the GB team on the track and in cross country. To be able to do something she was truly passionate about and put a lot of time into means the world to me, and I would want to make her proud. This will be all I need to get myself through the race!
I am ecstatic and of course incredibly nervous to have the opportunity to do this, especially for an amazing charity, close to our heart.
All donations and support will be appreciated, help me in my run for mum 🌻
